Bangladesh Meteorological Department, in its special weather bulletin on Sunday morning, advised the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to hoist the local warning signal number lowering its previous distant warning signal number 2. Maximum sustained wind speed within 54km of the cyclone centre was about 62kph rising to 88kph in gusts, making the sea very rough near the centre, it said. Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the bulletin added. The highest temperature yesterday was recorded 37.8 degrees Celsius at Jashore in Khulna, and today’s minimum temperature was 21.0 degrees Celsius at Bogura in Rajshahi.
