Cyclist withdraws from NZ squad

After appealing her exclusion, cyclist Sharlotte Lucas withdraws from NZ squad PHILLIP ROLLOSUPPLIED Hokitika rider Sharlotte Lucas has pulled out of the Road World Championships. The rider who appealed her exclusion for this month's Road World Championships in Austria has withdrawn from selection just a few days after Cycling New Zealand added her to the squad. Neither Lucas or Cycling NZ would disclose how much she was being asked to pay. The other riders below World Tour level are Dion Smith, Hamish Bond, Mikayla Harvey, Grace Anderson, James Fouche, Ryan Christensen and James Mitri. "While Cycling New Zealand would like to be able to cover these costs, it simply does not have the funds to do so," Landry said.
