Cyclist almost crushed by car as he crashes on busy road: driver’s quick reflexes saves him

A cyclist has had a brush with death when he slipped on a patch of gumnuts, crashing onto a busy road and narrowly missing a car. Steve Norton was on a group ride in the beach-side town of Cottesloe, 12km south-west of Perth, in the early hours of Friday morning. Footage from a fellow cyclist's rear bike camera shows the group riding down the side of the road in almost total darkness, with just the flash of car and bike headlights to be seen. A car can be seen as it frantically swerves to avoid the cyclist. Mr Norton has been riding around Perth for 12 years and said the crash was his closest brush with death on a bike.
