Cycling group barred from working beeSupplied Tanya Batt (second from left) and other Cycle Action Waiheke members were not impressed that Auckland Transport stopped a working bee on cycling paths. Cycle Action Waiheke spokesperson Tanya Batt said there was an "irony" in Auckland Transport deciding the working bee to improve cycling safety would break health and safety rules. "Cycle Action Waiheke is frustrated that we are not able to take direct action to improve our cycle pathways. The working bee planned for April 21 was cancelled after the cycling group asked Waiheke Local Board for high visibility vests, signs and road cones to make the working bee safer, said Cycle Action Waiheke spokesperson Darleen Tana Hoff-Nielsen. Auckland Transport media relations manager Mark Hannan said Cycle Action Waiheke did not contact Auckland Transport directly.
