General News of Monday, 10 February 2020Source: GNACyber Security Law to be passed by June - Communications MinisterUrsula Owusu-Ekuful, Communication MinisterMrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communications, has said that measures have been put in place for the enactment of a new cybersecurity law by June this year to sanitise and safeguard the country's cyberspace. The Communications Minister said the Ministry was currently in consultation with relevant stakeholders to solicit their inputs after which a bill would be drafted and tabled before parliament for consideration. The law, she said, when passed would strengthen mandated state security agencies to make a request for personal details and phone records of individuals suspected of any cybersecurity breaches for further investigations. She also called on the National Cyber Security Centre to extend the publicity to other parts of the country to ensure it attained a national goal. This year's Safer Internet Day will be held on the theme: "Together For a Better Internet."
