Thirty minutes after the clock struck midnight, Alanna Gilmore and Joe Gabriel welcomed London's first baby of 2021 into the world. The newborn girl weighed nine pounds and six ounces and doesn't have a name yet, according to a statement from the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). LHSC said it welcomes more than 6,000 newborns every year. Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy owners from London and the surrounding area have donated the parents a gift basket as part of their commitment to the health and well-being of women, said LHSC. The basket also included a teddy bear from the Children's Health Foundation and a handcrafted baby blanket from the London Health Sciences Foundation.
