A thorough investigation on the alleged involvement of customs officials on the illegal release of the containers is now ongoing, Maronilla said. Meanwhile, the bureau had also looked into similar schemes in other ports like the Manila International Container Port but “there was none,” Maronilla said. However, the assistant commissioner said, they are also conducting massive investigations in all other ports in the country “schemes exist in every port.”
