Customs to roll out electronic cargo system – The Manila Times

THE Bureau of Customs (BoC) is preparing to roll out a new system that will enable it to monitor the movement of containerized cargoes in real time as it inches closer to fully automate its operations and processes. Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said the new Electronic Tracking of Containerized Cargo (e-Tracc) system would be placed in various BoC ports nationwide for the use of the bureau’s Pier and Inspection Division. Cargoes covered by this system are transit containers bound for economic zones and free zones, containers bound for customs bonded warehouses or for export, and reefer containers bound for second border inspection. The system will be rolled out in next month, initially covering the Manila International Container Port, Port of Manila and Port of Batangas. This will be followed by the ports of Cebu, Davao, Subic and Clark in July 2020, while the full roll out and implementation of the system in all ports is expected in August 2020.
