Consumer NZ says the collapse of the global STA Travel Group highlights the need for better rules around customer refunds, and Feilding woman Lucie Langley agrees. TAANZ chief executive Andrew Olsen said he had already received a $10,000 request for help from an STA Travel client. Wilson advised customers who used credit or debit cards to pay STA Travel to apply to their bank for a charge back. Efforts to contact Austrian Airlines had also been fruitless and there had been no communication at all from STA Travel. Olsen said the STA Travel situation was a taste of what could happen if other agencies folded.
