KUALA LUMPUR: Civil servants currently in service will be entitled to a pension upon retirement, assures Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. He gave the assurance after informing lawmakers in Dewan Rakyat that the government is looking at replacing the pension scheme. Khairy asked whether the current civil service would be entitled to thethe pension scheme or be made to switch to a new scheme if introduced in the future. Earlier, Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) noted that 79.6% out of 1.7 million civil servants are Malays. As such, he said the government is forced to look at several mechanisms to replace the pension scheme.
