Larry LittleColumnistI heard a sermon recently in which the minister used the analogy of a club sandwich to describe the various interrelated layers in a particular bible passage. As I am literally hungry while I am writing this column, the thought of a well-prepared club sandwich is more than a mere metaphor — it’s slightly distracting and totally tempting. As you may remember, it depicts a pre-biblical scene where a cave man tries to send what appears to be a bone or long stick. Mixing our cave man and sandwich metaphors, while it has been “invented” long ago, many of us — me included — have not recognized the reality that we need to eat enough vegetables. His naïve insistence that he could end the Ukraine war in a day also borders on dangerous.
