After years of false rumours about his death, Fidel Castro, the ailing former leader of Cuba, has died at the age of 90. Cuban President Raul Castro has announced the death of his brother Fidel Castro on Cuban state media. The invasion force of about 1,400 Cuban exiles, trained by the CIA at camps in Guatemala, didn't fare much better. Castro eventually allowed the captured Cuban exiles to return to the U.S. in exchange for about $53 million worth of food and medicine. Raul Castro took over from his brother Fidel in 2006 and officially became Cuba's president and head of its Communist party in 2008.
