The largest review of schoolchildren in the Covid era last night warned of the potential for a lost generation. Pupils studying for exams only to see them cancelled due to coronavirus have suffered the worst during the schools shutdown, the major new report reveals. The report said: ‘Schools identified a real risk of “lost” children. One Year 11 girl told the experts: ‘You should be working hard anyway, but should you be working hard because maybe GCSEs will be cancelled in the end? One school said a particular worry was pupils who were struggling to keep up but ‘working hard not to draw attention to themselves’.
