British newcomer Emma Corrin has been cast to play Princess Diana in The Crown. It's the first major role for the actress, who plays the ill-fated future wife of Prince Charles in the Netflix drama series. In a statement on Tuesday, Corrin said she was honoured to be joining The Crown calling the late Diana an "icon" who remains an inspiration. Diana had sons and heirs Prince William and Prince Harry with Charles, but the couple separated in 1992 and divorced in August 1996. Olivia Colman will take over Claire Foy's role as Queen Elizabeth, Tobias Menzies will play Prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.
