A South African lioness at £3,500 was withdrawn from the sale after the Mirror contacted auctioneer Tennants. It came after the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting said lionesses are killed for their bones, used in medicine in South East Asia, with the skin then available to be stuffed as a profitable by-product.
