Crisologo urges House to probe his arrest

MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City 1st District Rep. Vicente “Bingbong” Crisologo, who lost to Mayor-elect Joy Belmonte, has urged the House of Representatives to investigate his arrest on the eve of the May 13 elections due to alleged obstruction of justice. Crisologo delivered a privilege speech during the Monday plenary session and recounted his “illegal” and “baseless” arrest together with son Frederick and 43 supporters in Barangay Toro. The lawmaker branded his arrest as “purposely planned” to prevent him from exercising his right to vote. Crisologo was arrested on the evening of May 12 for alleged vote-buying, but the PNP later clarified it was for obstruction of justice.
