more-inMumbai: The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has busted an insurance-based racket and arrested a gang of eight, who were allegedly conning people into paying for policies they would never get. The police, armed with only a cell phone number used by one of the accused, scoured over 150 hotels in Goa to identify and apprehend the gang. According to Crime Branch officers, the matter came to their notice after a Malad resident registered a complaint with them in February this year. Our team stayed in Noida till Chauhan returned on Wednesday. Chauhan and seven seven accomplices were placed under arrest on Thursday.”The police brought the accused to Mumbai after obtaining their transit remand on Friday.
