more-inKOCHI: The Crime Branch has wrapped up its preliminary investigation into the death of MBBS student Shamna Tasneem of the Ernakulam Government Medical College. Shamna, a second year medical student, had died of a severe allergic reaction to ceftriaxone injection last July. However, that depends on the medical apex body report, which is expected in a week. The investigators relied on the apex body report owing to their lack of expertise in determining whether medical negligence resulted in Shamna’s death. Among other things, the questionnaire submitted to the apex body seeks to know whether there was sufficient stock of medicines.
