Cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad applauds India Today's Operation CricketGate

Two of India Today's undercover reporters, posing as bookies, caught Salgaonkar on tape. The curator assured the reporters that the pitch would yield 337 runs and the target would be easily chaseable. Soon after the sting operation aired on India Today and Aaj Tak on Wednesday morning, BCCI and MCA swung into action. Azad, who played 7 Test matches and 25 one-day internationals for India between 1980-86, lauded India Today's efforts and said, "it was shameful to see what he (Salgaonkar) did for greed." India restricted New Zealand to 230/9 with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/45), Jasprit Bumrah (2/38) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/36) starring with the ball.
