Malaykumar Patel, 33, died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Tram Rd in West Eyreton about 11.10pm on Wednesday. Richmond Cricket Club chairman Krish Macgregor said Patel was well respected club member and “one of the good guys”. Among them were other Christchurch cricket teams, including MPCC Panthers, the Buffaloes and the Wanderers. “Thoughts are with them and his family back home in India.”Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
