As far as punts go, the chances of an aggressive Neil Wagner getting his left hand on the cricket ball tonight at Centurion seem at short odds. Tension in the series will have intensified after South African pace spearhead Dale Steyn offered candid thoughts on Wagner's batting approach in yesterday's media conference. The Pretoria-born Wagner made 31 off 30 balls as part of a 45-run partnership with captain Kane Williamson for the ninth wicket. He clouted Steyn for three fours and a six within five deliveries before the South African pace bowler eventually dismissed him. Williamson's captaincy modus operandi will undergo scrutiny as to how he uses Wagner during that period.
