Crewe goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen made two good saves to keep the promotion-chasing hosts in it before Paul Green headed an equaliser after the break. For Barnsley the win was much-needed respite from their league troubles. Crewe manager David Artell said in his post-match news conference: "I thought the first half was nip and tuck. I don't think there was much to choose between the two teams at times and then at other times I thought Barnsley did a really good job.
