Crawlspace fire damages east Hamilton home

A problem with old electrical wiring caused a fire to break out at an east Hamilton home this morning, fire officials say. Calls came in at 2:57 a.m. about smoke billowing out of a home on Angus Road, near King Street East and Quigley Road, said Fire Safety Officer Steve McArthur. When firefighters got there, they could see smoke and fire shooting out of one of the home's exterior walls, he said. The cause was deemed to be a problem with some old electrical wiring. No dollar estimate for damages was available.
