When Henry Adam Svec planned the release of his new book, he thought he'd timed it perfectly: the first day of the 2021 Canadian Football League Season. The third wave of COVID-19 has pushed back the start of the season until Aug. 5. Life Is Like Canadian Football and Other Authentic Folk Songs includes previous work Svec has produced. He's written songs from the perspective of fictional 1970s Canadian football players and recorded and released them online. "The book tells the story of a folk song collector, who while working as an intern in the summer at Library and Archives Canada discovers [these] songs," said Svec.
