A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries yesterday after her Toyota Starlet and another vehicle crashed head-on in Portobello Rd. Two ambulances were called to the scene to take both the driver and two people travelling in the other car, a Mitsubishi Outlander, to Dunedin Hospital. An off-duty doctor stopped to help paramedics stabilise the woman and police were very grateful to her, Acting Sgt Wykes said. Acting Sgt Wykes urged drivers to keep their eyes on the road and ignore distractions while they drove around Dunedin. "[The driver responsible] will be going to court for driving offences," Acting Sgt Wykes said.
