A patient in critical condition was due to be airlifted to hospital from the Ruapuke area, south of Raglan. Emergency services were called to Ruapuke, about 40 minutes south of Raglan, around 8.15pm on New Year's Eve. The crash happened on Whaanga Road - which runs near the coast - close to where the road crosses with Swan Acess Road. A critically-injured patient was due to be airlifted to hospital, a St John spokeswoman said, and personnel were still on scene around 9.40pm. St John sent the Hamilton helicopter, a local doctor from Raglan and three St John vehicles to the crash, she said.
