Cracking Martin Guptill century leaves hollow feeling in Sydney defeatANDREW CORNAGA/PHOTOSPORT Martin Guptill became the second New Zealander to score an ODi century at the Sydney Cricket Ground but it was in vain. Another Guptill masterclass against the white ball - 114 off 102 balls - was in vain as the Black Caps stumbled to a 68-run defeat in the first Chappell-Hadlee Trophy one-day cricket international in Sydney. Guptill's century was just the second by a New Zealander in a Sydney ODI, after Grant Elliott also in a losing cause in 2009. It was his 11th ODI century and first against Australia as he blasted six sixes, his booming lofted straight drives the highlights. He lacked extended support too, with Colin Munro's 49 from No 6 the next best Black Caps score.
