Crackdown on illegal campaign posters beginshome/News/Top Stories/Crackdown on illegal campaign posters beginsTHE Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking at expanding the scope of its crackdown on illegal campaign materials to include public utility buses as the poll body started monitoring on Friday the names and posters of national candidates who continue to violate the rules on election campaign. Under RA 9006, Comelec shall issue notices to violators, giving them three days to take down their illegal posters or face legal sanctions. The 90-day campaign period for national candidates started February 12, while the 45-day campaign period for local candidates will start March 29. In the case of national candidates or those running for senator, they are allowed P3 for each of the 61 million registered voters. Reelectionist Sen. Maria Lourdes “Nancy” Binay also on Friday questioned the Comelec’s list of candidates with illegal campaign posters.
