When pundits spoke about the Calgary Stampeders over the past couple weeks, the names of just about every veteran quarterback in the CFL seemed to get tossed about. If you actually listened to Stamps president/GM John Hufnagel, though, he never wavered about wanting to get Montell Cozart back in the fold. Cozart has been the Stampeders’ third-string quarterback for roughly a season and a half now. With backup Nick Arbuckle moving on to the Ottawa Redblacks this off-season, though, there’s finally an opportunity for Cozart to step into a bigger role. He’ll want to claim the backup job for himself, to be sure, but there’s no question that Cozart will have the inside track for that job heading into training camp.
