Cowboys LB Vander Esch set for neck surgery

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch will have minor neck surgery to fix a nerve issue and will go on injured reserve for the rest of the season, coach Jason Garrett said Monday. Vander Esch has missed the past five games because of the neck issue, which began when he suffered a stinger against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 20. Vander Esch, 23, is expected to be fine for 2020 training camp, according to NFL Network. Vander Esch made 72 tackles in nine games this season. We’re going to do the right thing by him.
