9 Maryland hold off Rutgers 56-51 Tuesday night at College Park, Md. The Scarlet Knights (16-7, 7-5), who dropped out of the Top 25 following a Saturday loss to Michigan, had won 10 of their previous 13 games. The Scarlet Knights took the lead on Yeboah’s trey at 9:03 and hung on for a 25-20 halftime advantage. Maryland had just two Cowan free throws over the final 9:20 of the first half against Rutgers’ stingy defense, which entered allowing only 38 percent shooting and 61.1 points per game. The Scarlet Knights lost their eighth straight game to Maryland since both programs joined the Big Ten in 2014.
