Lines of brightly-painted water troughs in Eltham’s main street have angered locals, South Taranaki District councillor and town resident Mark Bellringer says. Residents of two rural Taranaki towns are seeing red over a traffic-calming trial using concrete water troughs painted bright yellow and blue. South Taranaki District Councillor Brian Rook said the majority of people in Waverley were “pretty unhappy” with the troughs. In other areas, they have a flashing light to slow traffic down.”Resident Raelene Gleesonsaid she liked the raised crossing.
