Covid has now spread to Taupō after an outbreak in Taranaki, the Ministry of Health has confirmed. A ministry statement says Toi Te Ora Public Health has notified the ministry of a positive COVID-19 case in Taupō. Interviews are continuing to determine any links to known cases. Earlier Taupō mayor David Trewavas said he's been informed of a Covid-19 case in the community. A nasty surprise emerged in Taupō, where Covid-19 was detected in wastewater.
