Some 86% fewer over-80s died with coronavirus one week this month than in a week in January. The rate of deaths of older people with Covid-19 has plummeted since the second wave peak thanks to the rapid vaccine rollout. The Office for National Statistics identified 743 deaths in over-80s in England and Wales in the week ending March 5, down 86% from 5,339 deaths in the week ending January 22. However the EU has so far only given 6.9 million AstraZeneca doses out of a total stock of 14.9 million.
