The health authorities reported seven fresh fatalities in the 24 hours to Friday morning. Of them, Dhaka and Chittagong division counted three deaths each while Rangpur reported one. On Friday, the caseload jumped by 645 in the 24-hour period, taking the total number of cases to 1,561,463. On September 23, the country reported zero deaths in three different divisions while four divisions did not see any fatalities on September 29. Bangladesh reported its first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a strain of coronavirus later named Sars-CoV-2, on March 8 last year.
