Ministers have reportedly resisted calls from scientific advisors to introduce new measures to tackle the spread of Covid-19 before Christmas, Press Association as reported. Confirmed cases are rising rapidly, with the faster-spreading Omicron strain rising by more than 12,000 in the UK. London alone has confirmed 10,000 cases, according to data from Sunday, December 19.
