Bengal has 5.4 per cent of India’s active cases, and is fifth among states with the most such cases. Since September 26, when Bengal snapped out of a 97-day streak of fall in active cases, there has been a net rise of 636 in the state’s total of active cases. A minister said the new infections reported on Saturday were indicative of people that got infected between October 21 and 25. Five districts reported a single-digit figure. Seventeen Bengal districts reported zero deaths.
