A pregnant woman who had recently tested positive for the coronavirus gave birth to a healthy baby at the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (DRPCHK) on Sunday. According to the details, the newborn and the mother both were in stable condition after the normal delivery. However, staff members who took part in the delivery have been advised to remain in quarantine whereas four doctors and two nurses will be tested for coronavirus on Monday. It may be mentioned here that this was the first case of a confirmed coronavirus patient giving birth in the city. Furthermore, at least 23 staff members of the hospital, including six doctors, have tested positive for coronavirus so far.
