Covid-19 online symptom checkers have become simple tools that many countries use to check whether someone could be infected or if someone requires testing or medical care. As part of a daily routine, these symptom checkers are even recommended (and fall under a range of interventions) by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for companies that are reopening. But, according to a new international study published in BMJ Health & Care Informatics, some online checkers might advise seriously ill people to stay at home instead of consulting a doctor, which would delay the necessary treatment.
