By ELIZABETH MERAB More by this AuthorA rare multisystem inflammatory syndrome previously diagnosed in children and teenagers after being exposed to Coronavirus is being reported in older adults. The condition, officially called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (or MIS-C) can attack multiple organs, impair heart function and weaken heart arteries. In late April, reports began to emerge of a multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children MIS-C related to Sars-CoV-2 virus which causes Covid-19 infection. In many cases, the children have also tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies, suggesting the syndrome followed a viral infection. Kawasaki disease, also known as Kawasaki syndrome, has a well-defined set of symptoms, including a persistent high fever, bloodshot eyes, redness around the mouth, a body rash and redness and swelling of the feet and hands.
