Covid-19 forces delay of two weeks in cancer patients’ treatment

Cancer patients who catch Covid-19 are enduring a delay of at last two weeks before resuming their chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment, a specialist has said. The current Covid-19 wave is “extremely stressful” for patients and hospital staff and “everyone just wants to get through the next few weeks”, he told the Irish Independent. The number of these pat- ients in intensive care is staying relatively steady at 55, a rise of two since Thursday. Meanwhile, a new report shows that a growing number of patients with Covid-19 who attended emergency departments were admitted to intensive care. The median length of stay was six days, but one patient was in intensive care for more than two months.
