The new roadblock was set up late afternoon at the intersection of Port Waikato-Tuakau Bridge Rd and Klondyke Rd. Waikato District Mayor Allan Samson is pushing for a border shift so Port Waikato can be part of Auckland's level 3 lockdown. Tuakau was the main centre for Port Waikato residents to do their shopping, but the roadblock has cut off access, he said. There's literally no petrol station in Port Waikato or all that way until you get to Te Kauwhata. "It is a huge imposition of the people of Port Waikato and many will not be able to travel to their jobs," he said.
