"The on-flow from this is that we've got rest homes all over New Zealand that are lacking registered nurses. She said the workforce was about "50 to 60 per cent" migrant workers. Aged Care Association president Simon Wallace knew of at least 15 rest homes that had already stopped taking new admissions. Wallace said the clock was ticking for rest homes and for nurses with job offers.
