Erewash in Derbyshire continues as the country's Covid hotspot, with 237 new cases in the past seven days. May 17 will see people across England allowed greater freedoms, including mixing indoors with up to six people and overnight stays. Data from the PA news agency shows that, of the 315 areas in England, 182 have seen a fall in cases, which is 58 per cent. Blackburn with Darwen in Lancashire has the third highest, up from 53.4 to 99.5 per 100,000 people, with 149 new cases. It has been calculated based on Public Health England data published on May 12 on the Government's coronavirus dashboard.
