The survey found 1 in 4 New Zealanders had plans to upskill within the next year. Of the 2001 Kiwis surveyed, 14 per cent wanted to change careers and 7 per cent wanted to upskill because of the fear of unemployment. Many of those who lost jobs were from the travel and hospitality industries. Women were more likely to invest in education and training over the next six to 12 months with 27 per cent planning on upskilling. Millennials were leading the charge with 41 per cent upskilling compared to just 18 per cent of the older Generation X.
