Just the rising sun was travelling along Salisbury Rd in Richmond, near Nelson, at 8.10am on day one of the Covid-19 level 4 lockdown. The normally busy streets of the Nelson-Tasman region were devoid of the usual weekday buzz on Wednesday as most residents stayed home in response to a Covid-19 alert level 4 lockdown. On Tuesday evening, the Government announced the country would be moving back into a lockdown following confirmation of a community case of Covid-19 in Auckland. STUFF Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announces the country will go into lockdown at midnight after an Auckland man tested positive for Covid-19. The mayor reiterated calls for residents to shop as normal while adhering to Covid-19 lockdown guidelines by maintaining physical distancing, wearing masks and using the tracer app to scan into the store.
