India registered 44,877 new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in last 24 hours, taking the daily positivity rate marginally down to 3.17 per cent, the Union health ministry bulletin showed on Sunday morning. A total of 684 people succumbed to the viral infection in the span of one day, taking the death toll to 5,08,665. The active cases at present account for 1.26 per cent of the total cases. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.46 per cent, the health ministry data showed. The ministry data further showed that a total of 750 million tests have been conducted so far, including 14,15,279 tests in the last 24 hours.
