Oktoberfest typically attracts about 6 million visitors from around the world and had been scheduled from 18 September to 3 October. Beer tents are replaced with pop-up covid test centres in the Oktoberfest square Theresienwiese, Munich. Last year Clemens Baumgärtner told the Sueddetscher Zeitung that the pause in festivities had given businesses a chance to rethink some of the more problematic issues of hosting the international beer festival.
