On August 20, the single day infection rate stood at 20.40% and then it took a dip standing at 16.09% on Friday. The latest infection rate (16.09%) was the lowest in more than three months as the test positivity rate was 15.84% on May 20. Since then, the test positivity rate was steady around or over 20% till August 20, except a jump in early August. On August 3, Bangladesh recorded its highest daily infection rate with 31.91% of tests conducted in the previous 24 hours coming back positive. However, the DGHS said the country's overall infection rate stood at 20.26% so far.
