Bangladesh logged 2,458 new coronavirus infections in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning, up from 2,231 cases the previous day. According to the official data, the country’s overall Covid-19 mortality rate until Tuesday morning stood at 1.76% and the overall positivity lowered to 13.63%. Though the deaths remained relatively low, the daily cases remained mostly over 250 since December 13, according to data provided by the DGHS. Bangladesh issued 11 new directives, which will be implemented from Thursday, to curb the recent surge in Covid-19 cases. Imams will have to raise awareness about following the coronavirus health rules, such as physical distancing, during sermons of Friday prayers.
